2008 What's happening at the Bead Society

All BSV monthly meetings start at 10am. After socialising for a while, we have a short update on what's happening then usually start the business of the day around 11am

Monthly meetings are held at Carnegie Library, Shepparson Avenue, Carnegie, Melways ref 68, J4

We are in the Boyd room, which is on the first floor (lift available). There is good access to public transport and ample parking.

• Istanbul Bead Conference Talk on April 13th at Carnegie Library. Talk by a few members that attended this in November, followed by more UFO's**

• Techniques workshop on May 11th at Carnegie Library. Tubular Right Angle Weave (RAW). Bring size 11's and usual kit*
• Bead and Gem Show - caulfiled racecourse May 22nd (evening) to 25th

• Paid workshop on June 8th at Carnegie Library.. Cost $10 for 2 hour class, Tubular Right Angle Weave (RAW) project, max class size 10 OR UFO's **
• Extra workshops, application form
  • Saturday June 28th Tubular African Necklace Tutor: Wendie Young
  • Sunday June 29th Creating designs to make name tags, purses or other flat beadwork. Margaret Mueller will run 1 workshop using peyote and Noelle Walker will run 1 workshop using loom work.
    

• Photography talk on July 13that Carnegie Library.- how to photograph your creations.

• Tubular Peyote on August 10th at Carnegie Library.- Bring size 11's and usual kit*

• Show and tell from Cynthias workshop and Paid workshop on October 12th at Carnegie Library.. Cost $10 for 2 hour class, Tubular Peyote project, max class size 10 OR UFO's **

• Identification day - on November 9th at Carnegie Library., bring along old bead or gemstone that you want to identify or learn more about
• The Melbourne Bead Expo November 14th to 16th, includes bead challenge display and voting, and members exhibition

• The Bead Retreat at Toorak College is booked for 2009, keep an eye out in Connect for more info during 2008

*usual kit comprises, beading needle, prefered beading thread, beading mat or board, scissors and any thing else that helps you work

** bring along your beading, work on any unfinished projects or get help from a fellow member if you are stuck on something.
